She has a bachelor´s degree in History from the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador and a Ph.D. in Art History and in Heritage Conservation from the University of Granada. Starting in 2005, she has been lecturer and researcher at the former university in Quito, where she conducts imagery studies from different perspectives: imagery as a form of religious art in the viceregal context of Quito; imagery within the convent surroundings, and also images as emblems and rhetorical subjects within the Society of Jesus. She has participated in various research and development projects, notable amongst which are “History of the Convent of the Conception of Quito (Quito’s first convent)”. In August 2013, she organized the 2^nd Symposium on Art and History: Life in the convent in the colonial context of Quito. She curated the exhibition entitled Art funds of José Gabriel Navarro, and is a Corresponding Member of the Academy of Ecuadoran Ecclesiastical History. (Her induction lecture was entitled: Imagery and the edification of virtue in the nunneries of colonial Quito).
