SONY DSCHaving obtained a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and a graduate degree in Art History from the University of Granada, Adrián Contreras Guerrero combines the creative and theoretical aspects of the arts. He is currently working on his dissertation, which centers on the cultural relations between Andalusia and South America. He was granted a master’s degree in Advanced Museum and Historical-Artistic Heritage Studies from the Complutense University of Madrid, and since then he has taken part in various exhibition projects, such as “Sorolla and the glory of Spanish dress” (New York 2010-2011), the “Bienal del Milenio Reino de Granada” (Biennial Exhibition of Granada’s Millennium Kingdom) (Granada 2011), or “Morisc@s” (Granada 2016). His expertise as a curator has been demonstrated both at the theoretical level, by publishing articles on curatorship, and at the practical level, by directing the commemorative events for the first centennial of the Basilica of Saint John of God (Granada 2016-2017), the catalogue of which he also coordinated.

He has received various fellowships, such as the Santander Latin America Award, or the Assistance for Pre-doctoral Contracts from the Ministry of Finance and Competitiveness (2015). His academic record includes a total of 33 honorary distinctions and has deservedly earned him several honorary recognitions such as the Prize for Best Academic Record of the University of Granada (2014 and 2015), or an Honorable Mention within the Excellence Awards for the International Mobility of Students, for his exchange residency in Mexico.
