2. FOTO YOLANDA FERNANDEZDr. Fernández Muñoz obtained her Ph.D. in Art History from the University of Extremadura, and a master’s degree in Conservation of Latin American Heritage from the International University of Andalusia. She is a Lecturer, and is also accredited as an Associate Professor, in Art History at the University of Extremadura. Her research program focuses on “The Historical-Artistic Relationship between the Heritage of Extremadura and Latin America.” Her dissertation, directed by Dr. Francisco Javier Pizarro Gómez and entitled Francisco Becerra y la influencia de la arquitectura extremeña en América was submitted in 2006. In recent years she has been working on the “Study, Conservation, and Promotion of Heritage” or “Heritage Resources and their Management in the Field of Cultural Tourism”.

She has taken part in numerous research projects such as “The Artistic Inventory of 16th Century Convents of the foothills of the Popocatepetl, in the State of Puebla (Mexico)”; “Culturally aimed renovation of historical-artistic buildings in Extremadura and Mexico”; and “Reclamation of the balconies in the historic center of Lima” in collaboration with the UNI and the Lima Town Council, among others.

Results from this body of research have been disseminated in the form of national and international conferences and publications in Europe and America. All this has been made possible as a result of numerous postgraduate research fellowships and residencies in national and foreign research centers.
