lopez_guzmanHe is a Full Professor in the Department of Art History of the University of Granada. He has been Director of the Extension Program in Cultural Studies of the University of Granada; Member-at-large of the Andalusian Commission of Immovable Assets and Museums; and Director of the Permanent Seminar of Cultural Heritage in Andalusia’s International University. He has also been a member of the Ministry of Education’s Advisory Commission for the promotion of education and research in Social Sciences, Legal Studies, and Humanities. He coordinated, at a scientific level, the “El legado Andalusí” (The Andalusian Legacy) project, and directed the University of Granada’s Master’s Degree in Cultural Management. He has also coordinated international postgraduate programs in “Management and Conservation of Heritage” (Cuba and Colombia).

He is Vice-President of the Spanish Committee of Art History, and also of the Center for Historical Studies of Granada and its Kingdom. He is Director of the University of Granada’s Seminar in Latin American Studies. He is also a Corresponding Member of the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts, and of the Cartagena de Indias Academy of History. In 2014 he was awarded the “Plácido Fernández Viagas” Andalusian research prize in recognition of the achievements made throughout his research career.
