FOTO GLORIA ESPINOSAShe is Associate Professor in Art History at the University of Almería, where she teaches at the bachelor’s and master’s levels in subjects relating to contemporary and modern art, with an emphasis on artistic expression in Andalusia and America. Her research areas involve “Modern-Age Spanish and American Art”, and “Art, Film, and Contemporary Culture”.

Her publications include: Arquitectura de la Conversión y Evangelización en la Nueva España durante el siglo XVI (Almeria, University, 1998); Pedro Machuca (Granada, Editorial Comares, 2001), and América con Tinta Andaluza. Historia del Arte e Historiografía (Almería, University, 2013), with the latter two manuscripts being a collaboration with Rafael López Guzmán. “El arte barroco hispanoamericano: estado de la cuestión”, in Aullón de Haro, P. (Ed.), Baroque (Madrid, Verbum, 2004). ).

In terms of research projects, she has been the Principal Investigator for “An Inventory of the Movables of the Church in the Diocese of Almeria,” and a researcher for the projects “The Missions of Baja California (Mexico) from the 17th to the 19th Centuries. Cultural Landscape and Promotion,” “Andalusia in America. Art, Culture, and Aesthetic Syncretism,” and “Movable Assets of Urban Andalusia”.

She has completed various research residencies in Italy as well as in several American countries. She has also participated in scientific meetings, seminars, and international conferences.
